Can Game Development Impact Academic Achievement? - Assignment Week 7

I think that for some it is ver helpful to have hands on stuff in the class room. I do not think that teachers should only use hands on stuff but they can use the technology in the classrooms. For most kids it is what they already know and I bet they would learn more. Matching wise on he hole deal, well, it doesnt hurt to try it out.

Well it depends on how you use online chat and instant messanging in your classroom. If you let your kids use it "willy nilly" then no, its not useful but if you can turn it on and off when you want them to talk to one another, ask each other question, and help one another out while there working then yes, it is useful. For most it might distract from learning but like i said, just turn it on and off when you want them to use it.

Yeah there are benefits to all three. Some people can just read read assignments and go from there and they are good at it and get great grades. Some times it is easier to just do your suff and turn it in over the computer and some times you need to meet face-to-face if you have questions or need help on something.

I think podcasts enhances the learning because it is different from just sitting in a class. Different is always good when it comes to learning because you do not want to bore the students.

I think videogames can help develop your studying. You just do not have to use the learning games or brain games. Videogames is teaching you eye and hand coordination. I'm not one that gets big into videogames but most of my friends are and there good, they know all the controller parts and moves for different games, that's a lot to learn. I agree with the article. One of my friends loves video games so much that he is making a living out of it. If I had kids, i would let them play vidogames, learning ones when there little and when there older then real games but i would not want them playing it all the time. I'm a big believer of being out doors, running around, and staying healthy then sitting inside all day playing videogames.

Well, I like the Delicious web site and I think it is a great web sit to use. Its a place where you and your friends can post your favorite bookmarks on the web and everyone can see what you posted. I think I would use it so I can post my favorite bookmarks on it, so others with the same interest can see them and look at them. Ill let my friends know about it also so hey can do the same. It looks like a lot of people already use it.

My Thoughts on Spreadsheet

I like spreadsheet, once you get the hang of it i is very easy to use. Most of the Icons are at the top of the page and it is easy to find them. Spreadsheet is very useful. I t will come handy in the class. I would use it in my class for my grade book and so I have to keep track of football equipment that has been issued out to the students or PE uniforms that are lent out.

As a Teacher/Coach we use spreadsheet because it is easy and fast, it is not time consuming like writing by hand is. It is also a lot easier to keep track of items that are being lent out or used. The advantage of a spreadsheet or a calculator is that once you plug all the numbers then it can calculated fast and easy by the click of a button. If you need to change a number it will recalculate it and you wont have to do it all over again.

Blog Posting (Inspiration)

Inspiration:

I think Inspiration will be very helpful for students in school. It is a program to use for brain storming and putting your ideas on paper. I really liked it and i wish i could have used it back in school. I think the kids will like it also. It looks like once you get used to it, then it should be easy to use at home. Using that program back in high school for my essay papers would of been way easier then using paper and pen. That program has a lot to offer to help with notes, you can add video to the notes, web sites, and a bunch of different pics. It could be used in the classroom for group project when there doing there brain storming. When the brain storming is done, then you can save it and e-mail to the kids or turn it into a document and print it out for them.

This would be great for group projects and brain storming in the classroom because you do not have a lot of time for each student to use his/her own program. it would be good to use after reading a book and you have to write a paper after it, you can get all your thought out on paper. or when your working on a history project in a group. So you can see good feedback, the student that is not writing should be looking and seeing what the other student is doing. They should take turns using the program. If a student has a question, then he.she can ask there partner(s) for help before coming to the teacher.

Answer Blogging Q's One

1. To be honest, i am not much a blogger. My girlfriend loves to blog. Doing this for class mite change my view on blogging.

2. I think blogging will be useful in the education system because teachers can write stuff on there and the kids have to look it up and see what they wrote. If a teacher is out because there sick on on a trip then the students can look on the blog and see what to do.

3. I do not think blogging in classrooms is a waist of time because it gets the kids to write and it gets them to think and use there minds. The kids can also see what other kids are writing and respond t them with there thoughts and comments.
